in tuning, regulation and repairs. This requires specialized
problem-solving abilities developed through painstaking endeavor.
Experience is the key. Why settle for less?

In most professions, such as law, medicine and dentistry,
there are general practitioners and specialists.
In the piano care business, most practitioners are in the
general piano care business, many are part time,
working in a small area or community.

Descriptions of Traditional, Artiest & Concert Prep tunings

Traditional Prep Tunings

Our traditional tunings have been done on thousands of pianos, churches, and for concerts since 1973.
90 percent of the tunings done for our clients are Traditional Tunings.

Prep: Adjustment of up to 10 notes to correct incorrect functionality Ex. Sticking keys or action parts, action parts or damper that do not perform correctly. (Prep is optional and is subject to time constraints and the discretion of the technician at the time of tuning! NO exceptions.)

Tuning time 40 minutes to 1 hour.

Artist Prep Tuning

Intended for those who play music over the entire range of the piano.
These tunings Incorporate:

Our EXCLUSIVE UNIVERSAL 5th STRETCHING of octaves, that perfectly and naturally stretches octaves in the upper and lower thirds of the piano to the specific different string lengths of various size pianos, without the traditional guessing that is used by almost all piano technicians and ALL electronic tuners.

Chromatic rolling checking of octaves and unisons to correct changes from the pressure changes of chromatic tuning up and down the scale, and strings wrapped around the hitch pin shared with adjacent strings. This process gives added assurance to the setting of notes to prevent changing of settling

Concentrate on clarity of unison, (individual notes) and tuning by ear blending of the highest and lowest octaves, with a final chromatic check from end to end.

Prep: Adjustment of up to 15 notes to correct incorrect functionality Ex. Sticking keys or action parts, action parts or damper that do not perform correctly. (Prep is optional and is subject to time constraints and the discretion of the technician at the time of tuning! NO exceptions.)

Tuning time 1-1/2 hours.

Concert Prep Tunings

These tunings are intended for the most demanding of performances.

Two complete tunings, checks, end to end to compensate for fading of pattern, octaves or unisons, due to changes from the pressure changes of chromatic tuning up and down the scale, and strings wrapped around the hitch pin shared with adjacent strings. This process gives added assurance against the setting of notes to prevent changing during dynamitic and demanding performance.

Concentrate on clarity of unison, (individual notes) and tuning by ear blending of the highest and lowest octaves, with a final chromatic check from end to end.

Prep: Adjustment of up to 20 notes to correct incorrect functionality Ex. Sticking keys or action parts, action parts or damper that do not perform correctly. (Prep is optional and is subject to time constraints and the discretion of the technician at the time of tuning! NO exceptions.)

Tuning time approx. 2 hours.

PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST, REQUIE OR EXPECT CONCERT OR ARTIEST QUILITY TUNING ON YOUR INSTRAMENT REGUARDLESS OF MAKE, CIRCUMSTANCE, OR CONDITION UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT!

Why is Prep optional and is subject to time constraints and the discretion of the technician?

Due to the fact the many piano tunings are complicated by the condition, quality, humidity conditions and previous schedule of care and maintenance, many tunings require a prohibitive amount of time to apply even a standard quality of tuning.  Even though we are happy to provide, limited, Prep service with all tunings time constraints make this impossible in many cases. Please request additional service appointment time and cost if you need action regulation.
